A RUGBY camp held at a Salisbury school has raised more than £1,000 to support Horatio’s Garden at Salisbury District Hospital.
Chafyn Grove School hosted the two-day camp, which was run by London Irish as part of its community coaching programme.
The proceeds were donated to the rehabilitation garden at the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre, named in memory of 17-year-old Horatio Chapple, who was a former pupil at the school.
Headteacher Eddy Newton said: “We were delighted to hold the London Irish rugby camp. The children had great fun, learned a lot and raised a tidy sum for such a good cause.
"Horatio was a talented rugby player himself and he would have approved of the way in which the money was raised, as much as the reason for raising it, which is something he had vision for and held dear.”
Horatio was a volunteer at the centre and his patient research inspired the concept of the garden.
It was designed by Cleve West and officially opened at the end of September.
