A WORKER from London rolled up his sleeves to help the smallest of a village school’s children play safely outside.

David Everitt, who works for Lloyds TSB, gave Alderholt St James’ First School a day of his time and coped manfully with driving rain in his bid to paint the trellis with woodstain provided by the In Excess garden centre.

The work was part of the bank’s ‘A Day to make a difference’ scheme.

The school is still trying to complete the project, and is trying to find a playhouse and wood to make a staged area and raised flower beds.

More play equipment is also needed “to create a stimulating and imaginative area in which the children can learn and play together outdoors”.

Anyone who would like to help can contact the school on 01425 653063.
