YOUTH groups in Salisbury are being given the opportunity to present their own projects and bid for funding.
Funding is coming from the Salisbury Area Board’s Youth Funding Initiative and £7,825 is available.
The participatory budgeting event, organised by the Our Salisbury Community Area Partnership alongside with the area board, is being held on Monday at The Chapel in Milford Street, between 5pm and 8pm.
Participatory budgeting is a method where local people decide how to allocate part of a public budget.
Those people present will vote on which project they think should receive funding.
Shortlisted applicants will have a maximum of five minutes to showcase their project at the meeting next Monday.
The audience will then have the opportunity to ask questions and once all applicants have presented and answered any questions, voting will take place.
All young people making presentations will be expected to attend for the whole event in order to support other groups, score other groups’ presentations and hear the results.
Unsuccessful projects will be given advice on other potential pockets of funding.
The decisions made by the meeting will be ratified at an area board meeting on January 10. For more details call 01722 421747.
