Celebrating Diwali with the Pantry Partnership
DIWALI was celebrated in style through a social enterprise scheme that supports people with little access to cooking equipment.
The Pantry Partnership transformed Salisbury and South Wilts Cricket Club into a Diwali-style feast room and visitors enjoyed traditional Indian celebration food.
The partnership ensured that samples of surplus food, provided by Sainsbury's, were made into Indian appetisers such as baby corn and runner bean pakoras and Indian style bruschettas as well as Brussels sprout lollipops.
Participating guests were dressed in colourful saris and entertained with traditional Indian dancing by the Salisbury Malayalees.
The evening, on November 23, concluded with guests joining in with some Bollywood dance moves to the popular song from the film Slumdog Millionaire, Jai Ho.
