AUTHOR Michael Morpurgo and actress Juliet Stevenson will be bringing a magical fairytale to Salisbury Cathedral this Christmas.

The pair will be performing Morpurgo’s On Angel Wings, the story of a young boy left behind to tend to the flock when the shepherds are invited to follow the star to visit the newborn baby Jesus.

But the Angel Gabriel returns for him and takes him on a magical, memorable flight to be the first to witness the Christmas miracle.

Tickets are £12 for adults and £6 for children under 14 and are available from Salisbury Playhouse box office on 01722 320333 or at salisburycathedral.org.uk.

• From December 15, the cathedral is also festive activities including craft sessions, story time around the crib, festive fun for the under fives and a nativity service, Follow the Star, on Christmas Eve at 4pm.

Sarah Rickett, director of learning and outreach, said: “We look forward to welcoming both local families and those visiting the city for Christmas to get involved in the fun.”
