TEAMS of moustached men have been doing their bit to raise money for men’s health.

They have been taking part in Movember, raising money and awareness of men’s health, in particular testicular and prostate cancer.

At Trafalgar School at Downton staff grew moustaches for the month and on Friday students at the school showed their support by donning fake ‘taches for the day. They also held a cake sale and raised about £750 in total.

Organiser Mark Whitelock said: “The event has been well received by staff with a number of men sporting facial hair – Dan Anson, Olly Ford, James Doran, Dan Bulley, Jon Godfrey, Tom Pollard, Dan Hood and John Foster.

“We ran a whole school assembly on the aims of Movember and the importance of men’s health issues, so we knew the students would want to be involved.”

Staff at Stonehenge School had a ‘shave off’ on Friday to mark the end of their month of moustache-growing when local barber Giuseppes came in. And at Aspire Defence in Tidworth, 55 people took part, raising more than £3,500.

They celebrated the end of their fundraising on Friday with an afternoon of activities and competitions. A team from Fountain Way Hospital’s Beachley Dean ward and Giant Peach Designs also took part in the fundraising fun.
