Band triumphs in Weymouth

Hyde Band celebrate success in Weymouth.
HYDE Band has triumphed twice in two weeks, collecting four trophies in Gloucestershire before returning from the Wessex contest in Weymouth with the cups for Best First section band, Best Solo Cornet player and Best Percussion section, as well as being placed second in the contest overall.
Helen Kinder, the band’s musical director and the only female conductor in the 16-entry contest, said: “I am so proud of what the band has achieved. We are looking forward to great things in the National Area contest in Torquay in March next year.”
The band is playing carols for Fordingbridge’s Late Night Shopping event tomorrow night, and will be holding a coffee morning in Fordingbridge Town Hall the day after.
