THE Stroke Association is calling on people across Wiltshire to spare a few hours supporting stroke survivors across the county.
Stroke is the largest cause of severe adult disability and leaves many survivors with partial paralysis or difficulties speaking, reading or writing, with an estimated 9,000 people living with the effects of stroke in Wiltshire.
The Stroke Association’s Life After Stroke Service provides one to one support across the county to help people understand what has happened and build a life after stroke. Volunteers will receive training to support stroke survivors and help them build their skills and confidence through a host of activities.
The Stroke Association’s Life After Stroke Service is funded by Wiltshire Council and NHS Wiltshire. To find out more call the Stroke Helpline on 0303 303 3100 or visit stroke.org.uk.
