THE public can get their first glimpse of the multi-million pound proposals for the redevelopment of The Maltings and Central Car Park in Salisbury today.

The developer, Stanhope, is displaying its initial plans for the site at a public exhibition being held at the Guildhall.

Stanhope director Gary Bourne said “This represents the culmination of an initial period of stakeholder and political consultation and we are delighted to offer members of the public the chance to view and offer feedback on our evolving plans.

“We have thought deeply about Salisbury’s historic value, and a development on The Maltings and Central Car Park site will support and enhance the overall city experience.”

The developer says the draft plans will include:

• High quality new shops for Salisbury

• Restaurants and leisure opportunities

• New and improved public spaces

• Enhanced connections to the Market Place and historic Salisbury.

• Well lit, generously spaced car parking.

Stanhope was selected by Wiltshire Council in May 2012 as the preferred developer following a competitive tendering process.

The exhibition is on from 11am to 4pm today, with a second chance to see the plans on Tuesday, December 11 from 10am to 6.30pm, also in the Guildhall.

Another exhibition is planned for next year in advance of submission of an outline planning application anticipated for later in 2013, with work expected to start the following year.info@salisbury-maltings.com
