AN online youth radio station is holding a live phone-in on Thursday so young people can get advice about sexual health issues.

The phone-in is part of Wiltshire Council’s Wrap It Up For Christmas campaign to promote safer sex and healthier relationships among young people.

Young people will be able to call in live, text, email or send their queries in advance by Facebook private messenger to Spark FM for the live broadcast.

Listeners will be able to get advice on sexually transmitted diseases and the myths surrounding them, contraception and local No Worries clinics.

Maggie Rae, the council’s corporate director for public health, said: “During the party season we see an increase in people aged 15 to 19 accessing service for emergency hormonal contraception and also a rise in positive Chlamydia results in early January.

“We hope the campaign will raise the profile of safer sex and healthier relationships, and the radio phone-in will give young people the chance to find out the information they need in advance to prevent poor sexual health outcomes.”

The phone-in will be on between 7pm and 9pm.
