THE city centre will be swamped with Santas on Saturday (December 15) as the Southern Spinal Injuries Trust fun run gets underway.

Leading the warm up to the event will be former Gladiator and UK heptathlete, Lucy Boggis.

Miss Boggis, who is moving back to Wiltshire to continue her athletics training, is also setting up her own personal training business called Gladiator Fitness.

She said: “I’m really pleased to be part of SSIT’s Santa Fun Run again. It’s great fun and creates a real spectacle, as well as raising funds to support people with spinal cord injury in the region.”

The SSIT Santa Fun Run takes place at noon on Saturday with the warm-up starting at 11.50pm. Supported by the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment, who will be assisting on the day, the 2.5km route passes through the city centre to the Cathedral Close and back.

This year’s event is free to enter for children under 14 years, providing they come in festive fancy dress and are accompanied by a paying adult.

Adult entry costs £12.50 in advance and includes a Santa suit and commemorative medal. Registration on the day costs £15.00.
