CHRISTMAS past met Christmas present as Amesbury Museum held a special festive event on Saturday.

The museum, in Melor Hall, held a Christmas Fair with Santa and his sleigh, games and stalls.

There was a chance to have a picture taken next to the head of Amesbury’s The Ancestor sculpture, author Janet Reedman signing copies of her new book The Stone Lord and the chance to buy Amesbury memorabilia.

“We had available 200 tea towels showing the Amesbury mosaic unveiled for the Queen’s visit in May and beautiful cut pieces of blue stone, which make perfect paperweights, and by the end of the afternoon we had sold almost all of them,” said Andy Rhind-Tutt from Amesbury Museum and Heritage Trust.

The event raised more than £1,000 for the trust and there will be another chance to buy the books, tea towels and paperweights at the museum on Wednesday, December 19 from 11am to 3pm.
