RESIDENTS in Tidworth had to evacuate their homes after a World War Two hand grenade was found on a nearby road.
The bomb was found by contractors working in Sidbury Circular Road, between the Wavell Road junctions, at 11:30am yesterday and 20 residents were escorted to Tidworth Leisure Centre.
While the area was cordoned off by military personnel and Tidworth Police, a bomb disposal team removed the grenade and safely destroyed it. Residents were then able to return to their homes.
