MORE than 90,000 people have flocked to Salisbury’s Christmas market so far, figures released today reveal.
And with good weather over the weekend, organisers are expecting another 25,000 visitors before the market closes on Sunday.
The Cheshire Cheese Company has sold five tons of cheese over the last couple of weeks and the Bratwurst sausage stall has sold 7,000 sausages.
Stephanie Swann, who organised the market on behalf of City Centre Management, said: “A lot of exhibitors are telling us they are doing as well in Salisbury as they are in Winchester.”
The market has also been included in the Telegraph’s list of Britain’s best Christmas markets.
A mystery shopper visited the market on the first Saturday, December 1, when there were 14,000 visitors.
“It is great news for year one,” said Ms Swann. “I am really delighted with the whole event and the feedback from the general public and from exhibitors has been amazing. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped in any way whatsoever with making this such a success for Salisbury.”
