AMESBURY Museum held a special ceremony at Stonehenge as they lit the Solstice Lantern at sunset on midwinter’s eve.
The lightbearer was Olive Holmes, whose family is deeply linked with Amesbury, with four centuries of family history as the town stonemasons.
Amesbury Museum chairman Andy Rhind-Tutt said: “We kept the lantern lit all night before taking it back to the stones for sunrise on midwinter’s day.”
