AN amazing creation has appeared in a Fordingbridge church after dozens of women knitted 500 squares to form a Christmas tree.
The tree at the Methodist Church in West Street, which is over 6ft tall and has an array of knitted decorations, took nine months to make, after the idea was born at the town’s Knit and Natter group.
Rev John Scrivens said: “We weren’t sure what it was going to be like, but it’s brilliant – I’m really proud of it. The project brought a lot of people together.”
The tree will be on show at the church’s carol service at 6.30pm today, and again for the Christmas Day service at 9.30am.
