It's panto - but Gangnam-style
10:00am Sunday 13th January 2013 in News
FOR three nights only, the Friends of Western Downland School in Damerham performed their own pantomime – Gangnam style – and raised £1,000 in the process.
A Very Peculiar Pantomime was staged by parents and ateacher, who wrote, choreographed and performed the story, which mixed the old – a pantomime cow, the ugly sisters and fairy Godmother, with the new – Gangnam Style and hits from One Direction.
The panto was performed to a packed Victoria Rooms in Fordingbridge.
Panto goer Louise Donald, 11, said: “Brilliant costumes and make up completely transformed the actors.
“The scenery was wonderful and great props added to the entertainment.
“The modern songs and dances were the cherry on the cake.”
Cast member Kathryn Coyle said: “The Friends of Western Downland School decided on a change for Christmas 2012. Wanting to do something a bit different, we decided to write and stage our own pantomime, with all proceeds going to the school.
“I’ve never done anything like this before – we’ve done Christmas fairs in the past and wanted to do something different. I think there are calls for us to do it again, so watch this space.”
