GROUPS and organisations are encouraged to think of events that could be held in one of the parks and open spaces owned by Salisbury City Council this year.
The council has a grant fund of £5,000 available, with individual grants of up to £750 on offer for organisations and groups offering community events that everyone can enjoy.
Park’s assistant Polly Mason said: “In 2012 the fund helped support a range of events from a Diamond Jubilee Picnic at Fisherton Recreation Ground to Paint Off in the grounds of Salisbury Arts Centre, both of which were a huge success.
“Events like fun days, barbecues or wildlife activities benefit our community by bringing people together for a celebration or communal activity – so that they can experience something new as well as encouraging people outdoors to enjoy our parks and open spaces.
“If you are unsure of which open spaces are owned by Salisbury City Council, have a look at our website or give us a call.”
The deadline for applications is Wednesday, March13.
