CAMERA shop chain Jessops, which has a store in the Old George Mall in Salisbury, has gone into administration.

Administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) have been appointed to the group, which has 192 stores, and 2,000 jobs across the country are said to be under threat.

Rob Hunt, joint administrator and partner at PwC, said store closures are inevitable but it has not yet been confirmed which ones will close or when.

“Our most pressing task is to review the company’s financial position and hold discussions with its principal stakeholders to see if the business can be preserved. Trading in the stores is hoped to continue today but is critically dependent on these ongoing discussions,” said Mr Hunt.

Jessops is currently not in a position to honour customer vouchers or to accept returned goods.
