A TEENAGER from Salisbury appeared in court on Wednesday for stealing a pebble. Darren Coombes, 19, pleaded guilty to stealing the decorative garden stone, valued at £5, from a property in Butts Road, Salisbury, on October 14.
Paul Jones, defending, said: “My client appears before you for the theft of a pebble – not a matter that would have normally got to the court.”
The case came before the court on December 17 last year along with another charge against Coombes, which was later dropped.
But because Coombes had already pleaded guilty to stealing the pebble, the matter continued through the court process.
Magistrates adjourned the case for three weeks, during which time it is expected that he will be cautioned by police and it will not come back to court.
