10:30am Wednesday 16th January 2013 in News By Morwenna Blake
A PLANT charity based in Salisbury is encouraging people planning to buy their loved one flowers for Valentine’s Day to instead consider going for a wilder option.
Plantlife, in Rollestone Street, is asking people to look at adopting a wildflower, or even an acre of land on one of its 23 nature reserves, instead of cut flowers that will only last a short time.
A spokesman said: “Imagine how romantic it would be to take your valentine for a walk through a field full of poppies that’s dedicated in their name.
“You will receive a certificate and a gorgeous framed picture of the meadow you’ve adopted. You can also visit the reserve and learn more about the wild flowers that grow on your acre from one of our experts.”
Buying this gift will help ion the conservation work being done by the charity to preserve wildflowers for future generations.
