DETECTIVES are renewing their appeal for witnesses and information about an attempted robbery in Verwood to come forward.

The incident happened in the Morrisons car park, Chiltern Drive at about 7.25pm on January 4.

A 59-year-old woman from Wimborne was getting into her car when she was threatened by a man with a handgun demanding money.

The victim screamed, and the offender fled.

Detective Sergeant Ian Fletcher, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who has any information about the attempted robbery.

“We want to reassure the public every effort is being made to apprehend the offender and we hope that as people do their weekly shopping we are able to locate further witnesses.”

The offender is white, aged between 30 and 40 and of medium build. He spoke with a northern accent and was clean shaven.

He was wearing a black woollen hat low over his eyebrows with the rim turned up, a dark jumper with a black gillet over the top, which was done up, and black woollen gloves.
