Take care on the roads as freezing conditions continue

PEOPLE are being urged to only make journeys if they are essential as freezing weather continues.

Yesterday’s snow coupled with low temperatures overnight means roads and pavements are still hazardous in many places.

Wiltshire Council has said it is continuing to salt primary routes but is urging people not to drive unless they have to.

The council’s Streetscene teams have been clearing some footways and town and parish councils have activated their local snow plans but some services are likely to be disrupted today.

Leisure centres in Tidworth, Amesbury, Durrington and Tisbury are currently closed but bus services are expected to be running.

People are advised to check the council’s website at wiltshire.gov.uk, where notices will be posted with up to date information.

Went to town today intending to use Park and Ride.

Info boards said that Britford was closed, so drove on to see if Southampton Road was open.

Confirmed when saw a P&R bus coming the other way. Nearing the site, the electric sign again said "Closed".

This could not have helped businesses today if people gave up and went away after seeing the incorrect signs. (Which also stated that central car park was "Full")
