MATERNITY services at Salisbury District Hospital are set for a makeover after the Government announced £325,000 in funding for the unit to be upgraded and improved.
The funding is part of a £25million investment announced by Health Minister Dan Poulter on Thursday, and will be used to fund a new birthing pool, facilities for partners to stay overnight in all birthing rooms and the provision of more ensuite toilets and wet room-type bathrooms.
In November, the Government opened the £25million fund to applications from local NHS trusts and foundation trusts.
Applications for funding have only been approved where there was evidence that parents were in favour of the changes.
Bids were judged by a panel that included representatives from the Royal College of Midwives and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
