A CARRIAGE driving navigator will be raising funds for Salisbury’s Southern Spinal Injury Trust when he competes in the World Cup Driving final in Bordeaux next week.
Hugh Scott-Barrett is the backstepper, or navigator, to the current world champion, Australian Boyd Exell, and the pair will be competing in the championship on February 8 and 9.
The Wiltshire-based chief executive of property group Capital and Regional set about raising money for the trust when he and Exell started competing in the FEI World Cup Driving event, and has already raised more than £10,000 through the qualifying round at the London Olympia.
He said: “Taking part in this event has been a real thrill and I have enjoyed it immensely. It’s also given me the opportunity to fundraise for SSIT, who do a fantastic job providing support for people with spinal cord injury in the south and south west. “I’m so grateful to the friends and colleagues from the property sector who have helped me with my fundraising so far and hope very much that people will continue to support me in the run up to the World Cup Final.”
