FORDINGBRIDGE teenager Suzie Douglas is shaving off her eyebrows and her long, black hair tomorrow so it can be used to make wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment.

Suzie, 17, a Brockenhurst College student, has already raised £430 and is now aiming for £1,000, to go to Cancer Research UK.

Her friend Ashley will be given a quick lesson in shaving heads by hairdressers at Vinnie’s salon in Fordingbridge before taking the blade to Suzie’s locks.

Eyebrows She said: “There are some members of my family who have this disease and I want to do something to help. It wasn’t until the money started coming in that I thought perhaps I could raise more money if I shave off my eyebrows too.

“I am raising money for Cancer Research UK because I feel passionately about the high numbers of people diagnosed with cancer who die from it and for those people who go through chemotherapy and although cured, have lost all their hair during the process.

“I am donating my hair, once it is shaved off, to a charity called Little Princess Trust, who will then use my hair to make wigs for young children who cannot afford to buy a wig when they have to have chemotherapy.

“My best friend is doing it, under supervision at Vinnie’s, so I do feel that I am in safe hands. I was hoping to raise £100, but the money kept flooding in and now I am hoping to raise £1,000.”

Research Suzie added: “I want all the money I raise to go into research to find a cure to help these people, it can happen to anyone.

“Cancer has no definite cure. People are dying. We need to find a cure, we cannot let cancer win. Please support me in my fundraising event, all donations help and I am very grateful for all your support.”
