SOME of the world’s most famous artists proved the inspiration for a group of residents at Salisbury’s John Baker House taking part in a glass fusing workshop.

Guided by artist Sif Wolthers, the residents learned how to make a variety of objects including tile hangings, coasters and window hangings by using folded glass heated in a kiln.

Project worker Catherine Hamer, who organised the sessions, said: “We’re always on the lookout for new and challenging experiences for our residents to take part in.

“Glass fusing is a practice few people have experience of, so it’s been a novel way of spending a weekend.”

The arts project, which has been running over five weekends, is part of the Participatory Arts Workshops (PAWS) scheme run by Wiltshire Council.
