A FURNITURE store in Salisbury is closing down next month after 14 years of trading in the city.

Sturtons & Tappers in Southampton Road will stop trading on March 3 but customers will continue to be catered for at the company’s two remaining stores in Winton and Wimborne.

Director David Scott said the decision to close the Salisbury branch was down to its out-of-town location and plans to expand other areas of the business. He said: “We have been around a long time – the company was established in 1906.

“Both the other sites are in high street locations, are more traditional and provide a wider range of furnishings. “The Salisbury branch is a different style of trading. We are still doing good business there but we don’t see that increasing much in the future.”

Mr Scott said all new customers and those with outstanding orders in Salisbury had been informed while the three members of staff at the branch had been invited to apply for three vacancies currently open in Dorset.
