Cows escape and head for park and ride

FIVE cows got out of a field near Southampton Road in Salisbury this afternoon, and headed for the park and ride.

Police were called at about 2pm after the cows escaped from a field between Tesco roundabout and the Petersfinger park and ride.

Officers herded the animals back into the field by about 2.50pm and the farmer was informed.

Joking apart(& they're rather good)luckily the side road (the old "rat-run")had been blocked off.Presumably they could have got on to the A36 previously.Doesn't bear thinking about.
