THE 36th annual Wilton House Antiques Fair will be held next month.

The popular fair, held at the home of the Earl of Pembroke at Wilton House, will this year be even bigger than ever, with stalls in the Cloisters and the Old Riding School.

Inside the Cloisters, buyers and browsers will find 29 stands with a huge variety of top of the range items, including fine Chinese antiques, silver, miniatures, porcelain, pottery and glass, jewellery, sculpture, watercolours, Russian works of art, engravings, collectables and furniture.

Following reorganisation in the Old Riding School, the fair is now able to accommodate 15 exhibitors, four of whom are new to Wilton House: Richard Hoppé from Devon, specialising in continental glass, scent bottles, Art Nouveau and Art Deco; Jane Burnham-Slipper from Dorset, newly trading as Pegasus Antiques, with small pieces of period furniture, ceramics and glass, silver, pictures and decorative antiques; Ian Anderson, of F E Anderson & Son from Powys, with a sizeable stand of 17th , 18th and 19th century fine furniture and mirrors; and Tim Taylor of Ptarmigan Antiques from Norfolk, who has taken on his father’s business and will be offering a range of general antiques.

And Nicholas Arkell is taking an additional stand of fine furniture and paintings to showcase Walton House Antiques, his new business in Mere, Wiltshire, while Paul Nunn will again be offering a spectacular collection of Olde Time clocks.

The Wilton House Antiques Fair, sponsored by the Journal’s sister publication Wiltshire Society magazine, is vetted by an in-house committee of standholders to help ensure a consistently high calibre of antiques.

The standholders come from across the country and are experts in their field.

The fair will be open from 10.30am until 5pm on Friday, March 1 and Saturday March 2, and 10.30am to 4pm on Sunday, March 3.

Entry is £5.50 per person.
