THE south’s ambulance service has announced its new medical director.
Alison Walker has been named as the South Western Ambulance Service Foundation Trust’s (SWASFT) executive medical director.
The enlarged SWASFT came into existence on February 1 following the acquistition of the Great Western Ambulance Service (GWAS), which covered Wiltshire.
Dr Walker will join the organisation in April from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) where she currently has the same role, as well as being medical director for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Dr Walker, who will spend four days a week with SWASFT, said: “I am delighted to be joining South Western Ambulance Service as Executive Medical Director. Ambulance clinicians and systems can make a real difference to patient outcomes and I am keen to apply my experience for the benefit of staff and patients.”
