Baton twirler to represent England
A BATON twirling teenager from Winterbourne is set to represent England next month.
Saskia Banks, 13, is part of the National Baton Twirling Association England Pom Team with her troupe Ambition, based in Taunton, as well as Bournemouth-based Gemini.
She will represent England with the group in Holland on March 23, as well as in competitions in Medway, Stevenage and Coventry.
“I was so shocked when I found out,” she said. “I was speechless. It has also given me confidence and I can go out onto the floor without feeling nervous.”
Saskia travels to Taunton once a fortnight for training and her mother Cheryl is appealing for sponsorship to help cover travel, training and competition entry costs.
