A TEENAGER from Mere is having all her hair shaved off for charity on Sunday.

Klara Jenkins, 14, decided to shave her hair off after a friend of her tutor Zoe Lambard at Gillingham School died of cancer. Ms Lambard is running in a marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Klara wanted to help.

“Me and my friends were thinking of things we could do to raise money and one suggested shaving my eyebrows off but I didn’t think that was enough,” said Klara, who regularly raises money for charity. “I’m quite nervous.”

She hopes to raise £500 to be split between Comic Relief and Cancer Research UK. Klara will have her hair shaved grade one all over at Mere Social Club at 2pm by her mother, Kate.

Mrs Jenkins said: “It was all her idea and we are all so proud of her. We didn’t believe it at first but she is determined.” To sponsor Klara, visit virginmoneygiving.com/KlaraJenkins.
