THE mayor of Salisbury is to host a concert celebrating glorious music from across the centuries in aid of his mayoral appeal.

Cllr John Collier will host the concert, to be performed by the Salisbury Cathedral Girls Choir accompanied by John Challenger and directed by David Halls.

The programme will combine both ancient and modern; such as William Byrd’s Mass for four voices (Kyrie – Gloria - Agnus Dei) and Benjamin Britten’s A Hymn to St Cecilia. The concert will draw to a close with Sean Doherty’s Blessed be that maid Marie, a piece written for the Cathedral Choir in 2012.

Money raised will go to the Salisbury Diamond Jubilee Fund to support community projects and voluntary groups in and around the city.

Tickets for the event, on Friday, March 8 at 7.30pm at Salisbury Guildhall, are £15 to include wine and canapés.
