Riverside buildings sell for £115,000

RIVERSIDE outbuildings on the eastern outskirts of Fordingbridge fetched £115,000 at auction after a bidding war.
Formerly owned by the Environment Agency, the redundant workshop and two-storey, cottage-style building were among 15 lots being sold by regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson last Wednesday. The premises are on the south of the River Avon at East Mills Depot, Southampton Road, on the fringes of the New Forest.
Auctioneer Rob Marchant said: “We anticipated keen interest because of the superb location by the River Avon and the views across the glorious river valley, hence the bidding battle.
“Bidding started at £90,000 and within a couple of minutes the gavel came down on a final bid of £115,000.
“We are not privy to the plans, if any, the new owner has. As previously mentioned, the buildings may offer potential for conversion or possible redevelopment, subject to all the necessary consents being obtainable.”
