THE Wiltshire Air Ambulance is urging people to take part in its third trek to Morocco to raise funds for the service. The trek to climb Toubkal, the highest Atlas Mountain, has raised more than £60,000 in the last two years.
Last year’s trek team enjoyed sleeping out under the stars on the mountain and showering under waterfalls.
The service currently needs to raise £700,000 each year to cover running costs as it receives no government funding, and by 2014 the cost will rise to £2.5million.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance is looking for 20 people to join the team from September 23 to 27 and raise £1,500 each through sponsorship.
This amount covers the cost of the trek, which includes flights, food and water, and there will be a doctor to look after the team.
The remaining £985 goes directly to the charity.
