THIS week is National Chip Week and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service is working with the Fire Kills campaign to highlight the potential dangers lurking in every kitchen.

Last year, more than half of all accidental fires in the home in England were linked to cooking, most caused by deep fat frying, and some 4,000 people are injured in these kinds of fires each year.

People are warned to take care when cooking but never leaving it unattended, not overfilling chip pans, never cooking after drinking and not leaving children alone in a kitchen while cooking on the hob.
