CHORISTERS from cathedrals across the west will join together for choral Evensong on Wednesday, March 6 at 5.30pm.
More than 100 treble and soprano voices will be heard in the service, which will follow an annual Choir Schools Association sporting event.
Choristers from Bristol, Exeter, Gloucester, Llandaff, Truro and Wells cathedrals and from St John’s College, Cardiff, and Tewkesbury Abbey Schola Cantorum, will take part in a football competition for boys and netball competition for the girls hosted by Salisbury Cathedral School before Evensong.
Music will include the Archer Responses, Psalm 32, Sumsion in G and Vaughan Williams' The Call.
David Halls, director of music at Salisbury Cathedral, said “I chose music which is easily accessible and will sound terrific sung by so many trained trebles and sopranos. I can thoroughly recommend attending the service.”
