Council open evenings

OPEN days are being held in Amesbury this week for people to find out more about the role of councillors ahead of the forthcoming local elections.

The elections will be held on May 2, and the council is hoping that more people will come forward to stand in the town and represent the community.

Residents are being encouraged to stand for election, so that people can exercise their democratic right to choose who they want to represent them. There are 16 seats available. If fewer than 16 people stand, then those councillors that stand again will be returned uncontested.

The open days will be held on Wednesday from 3pm to 7pm at the Bowman Centre and Thursday from 3pm to 7pm at Antrobus House.

Councillors and clerks will be available to talk to those who come along.
