Action for Children rail day
8:25am Wednesday 27th February 2013 in News By Corey Ross
RAIL commuters across the south west are being asked to give generously to a children’s charity tomorrow.
Network Rail is allowing Action for Children to take over 16 of its train stations for the day, including those from Salisbury station.
More than 40 other train stations and ten London Underground stations are also taking part, and at least 2.2million people are expected to use those stations during the day.
There will also be street collections in Birmingham, Coventry and London boroughs City of Westminster and Tower Hamlets, making it the biggest collection day in the charity’s 144-year history.
The charity works with more than 250,000 children, young people, parents and carers each year and runs more than 600 services in the UK.
The money raised will help fund the life-changing work the charity does with some of the UK’s most vulnerable and neglected children.
