MORE than 200 revellers from as far away as Reading turned up for a teenager’s birthday party after it was advertised on facebook.
The 14-year-old Tidworth girl’s party was cancelled but the youngsters who had turned up then congregated in the Nadder Road area and police were called in to deal with antisocial behaviour.
The officers seized a large amount of alcohol from underage drinkers and gave several youngsters warnings about their behaviour.
PCSO Aaron Heath said: “It was disappointing to see such a large number of young people in possession of alcohol in Tidworth and causing antisocial behaviour.
“This was an organised event and would have rapidly become more disorderly without early police intervention. Our local retailers were informed of the situation and were advised to be vigilant when selling alcohol, which they complied with, but much of the alcohol was brought into the area.
“Young people involved in underage drinking on our streets are reminded that this is an offence and action will be taken against those found doing so and those assisting them.
“This is also a timely reminder to venue management to ensure that those using their premises comply with legislation.”
