Clampdown on antisocial behaviour
POLICE in Amesbury have been clamping down on antisocial behaviour by youths in the town.
In the last month, seven young people have been issued with acceptable behaviour contracts, through which they agree to improve their behaviour or face tougher punishments.
Five youths have been summoned to the town’s police station with their parents where they have been warned about their behaviour, and officers have also paid visits to troublemakers’ homes.
In early February there were several reports of youths throwing items at houses, causing disturbance, banging on the windows of elderly people’s home and hurling stones at moving cars.
At their meeting last Tuesday, Amesbury town councillors heard that since the acceptable behaviour contracts had been issued the problems had been significantly reduced.
