TRAINING on the Plain is set to increase significantly during April with Warrior companies from 2 R WELSH and 3 YORKS on armoured manoeuvre training across the whole Plain in the first two weeks.

From April 8 to 12 Royal School of Artillery courses will combine on their largest training exercise during which AS90 and Light Gun live firing will take place.

April 15 to 19 sees Challenger tanks from the Kings Royal Hussars together with Warrior and Bulldog companies from 3 YORKS manoeuvring across all areas in preparation for a 3 YORKS Battle Group exercise in the last week of April (the battalion takes over from 2 R WELSH as the Land Warfare Centre Battle Group in June).

And April 22 to 26 Land Warfare Centre Brigade and Close Reconnaissance courses take place.

Drivers are warned to take particular care when approaching tank crossings and to be prepared for mud on the road.

A £300,000 refurbishment of Ridgeway from Joan a Gore Cross to Crossing Bravo is making good progress and should be complete by early April.

Easter opening of the roads through Imber: The road through Imber from Warminster to Joan a Gore’s Cross and the roads from Heytesbury to Imber and from Bratton to Imber will be open from 6pm on Friday, March 29 (Good Friday) until 6pm on Wednesday, April 3.
