INSPIRED by three members of Fordingbridge Rugby Club who raised £10,000 for charity in memory of a former president and his daughter who died just a year apart, Beverley Zuber is set to run the London Marathon.

Paul O’Connell, Nigel Lunt and Chris Langford cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats as a tribute to Mr O’Connell’s father, former rugby club president Tony O’Connell, who died aged 61 after a heart attack three years ago, and his daughter Amy, who died just over a year later, aged 27.

Now Mr Lunt’s sister, Beverley along with her daughter-in-law Courtney Steller are flying over from the USA to compete in the gruelling 26-mile challenge to raise £3,000 for the Epilepsy Society UK.

Mrs Zuber said: "We are both first timers at marathon running and training has not been without its challenges. The gracious support and words of encouragement from our families and friends on both sides of the pond has been quite amazing. We know that Amy and Tony will be cheering for us on the day" “The Epilepsy Society received much support last May when my brother Nigel and two team mates, cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats in eight days.

“Courtney and I were truly awed by their amazing feat and decided that there was no time like the present to tackle our own challenge - 26.2 miles. What better way to do that, than to run for Amy and Tony.”
