THE annual meeting of the Winterslow & Firsdown WI took place on March 21 at Winterslow Village Hall.

The president, Pat Cudby, invited comment from members on the 90th birthday party held on February 21.

It was generally agreed that it had been a great success; the Padwicks had been most entertaining and the hall had been wonderfully decorated with photographs from the 1920s by Caroline Jamison.

The president then went on to give her annual report and the accounts were presented, unfortunately without a detailed explanation, because the treasurer, Maria Taylor, was unable to be present due to illness.

The secretary, Valerie Russell, gave her annual report, telling members that it had been a good year with many activities.

The election then took place and the new committee members are Pat Cudby (president), Valerie Russell (secretary), Maria Taylor, Ann Sim, Diana Jarvis, Mavis Charnley, Lillian Mossman, Christine Bunkel, Caroline Jamison and Hilary Sandle.

Birthday buttonholes were presented to Pat Lowe and Chris Walker.

The whole year competition results were announced, with Hilary Sandle in first place, second Sheila Thornton and third Val Britton.

The March competition for an old toy was won by Caroline Jamison, with Sheila Martin and Sheila Thornton in second and third places.

The speaker at the April meeting will be Graham Turner from the Playhouse, who will talk about set design.

And the competition will be for a pretty cup and saucer.
