THE past month has been a busy time for the Morgan’s Vale, Woodfalls & Redlynch Branch of the Royal British Legion.

At the RBL county conference they were awarded second place in the Stillwell Cup for efficiency over this past year.

Their annual dinner was held at the Woodfalls social club and was a fine success, with 49 members and friends sitting down to dine.

The guest speaker Commander (Retd) John Kelly gave his experiences of the Falklands from his perspective and involvement in the sea battle. It was a rewarding and interesting presentation enjoyed by those in attendance.

For the evening the branch put together a Royal Navy table complete with some bunting. Diners on that table, including the two Falklands veterans, certainly enjoyed themselves.

The raffle raised £140 towards welfare and other worthy causes, all the gifts being donated by the members.

The first coffee morning of the year, held in Lover Village Hall, was another well supported function.

The cold weather did not appear to reduce numbers attending. This was another sociable morning with piano playing and a good deal of chatter going on.

Once again the raffle proved rewarding with the morning raising £240. This will also go towards welfare.

The branch has a programme of events to support and attend this summer.
