A BODY found in the River Avon is believed to be that of missing woman Diane Markin.
Police were called to the river in Churchill Gardens at noon today after a member of the public saw the body in the water.
Ms Markin, 68, of Crane Bridge Road, was last seen at her home on Tuesday lunchtime and did not attend an arranged appointment on Thursday morning, which was out of character.
Police had issued a plea for any information about her whereabouts yesterday. Formal identification of the body found in the river has not yet taken place but a post mortem is due to be carried out in due course.
At this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious.
