A MARINE geology student from Fordingbridge is in the running for Miss Hampshire – and she is hoping Journal readers will vote for her.

Hayley Adlam, 22, of Pealsham Gardens, will be stepping onto the catwalk on Monday along with 18 other women to vie for the title.

If she wins, she will then go on to the Miss England contest.

She says her ambition is to go into the offshore oil and gas industry’s marine biology sector, and to carry out seismic surveys to find out how noise affects wildlife. She also wants to work with renewable offshore energy.

Miss Adlam says she is passionate about the environment, and has volunteered for the whale charity Orca. Her hobbies include horse riding, cheerleading, hiking, Scuba diving, camping, surfing and clay pigeon shooting.

Miss Adlam says her mum Angela is her biggest role model.

She said: “She works hard for charities inputting a large amount of her spare time working for both the Hampshire Search and Rescue Team and the Fordingbridge First Responders, implementing the skills she learnt working in accident and emergency as a nurse to help save the lives of local people within our area.”

To vote for Miss Adlam, text the words MISSHAMPSHIRE04 to 64343, and keep up to date with votes at missengland.info/regionals/hampshire. Texts cost £1, and you can vote more than once.
