A FREE therapy service for Dorset residents suffering low moods, stress and anxiety has been launched.

Steps 2 Wellbeing provides an assessment to ensure that people receive the most appropriate help needed to overcome their difficulties. It is available for those aged over 18 who are registered with a Dorset GP surgery.

Colin Hicks, from Dorset HealthCare, said: “We offer a range of interventions, which have been shown to be effective. These include telephone support, face-to-face interventions, group work and online self-help programmes.

“The support is based on cognitive behavioural therapy and other forms of counselling which help people understand their difficulties and develop the skills they need to overcome them and improve your quality of life.”

The service will also help with obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, phobias and fears, panic attacks, stress, trauma/abuse, complicated bereavement, low self-esteem/self-confidence issues and relationship issues.

The service accepts self-referrals, so anyone can contact the service directly.
