Women's rugby team scoops £300 from Mars fund
A WOMEN’S invitational 7s rugby team with a member from Fordingbridge, is celebrating after receiving a £300 donation from the MARS Milk Fund.
The Moody Cows side, comprising of players from UK premiership clubs such as Wasps, Richmond, Saracens, Darlington and Bristol and featuring Fordingbridge’s Bryony Cleall, is celebrating after receiving a £300 donation from the MARS Milk Fund.
Moody Cows was formed in 2004 and now has 30 members who compete in tournaments throughout the year. The team is entirely self-funded as it donates any money raised from winning competitions to the Macmillan Cancer Trust in memory of one of its founding members Kay Booker.
Ms Cleall, who applied for the cash, said: “We are a really close-knit team and raising money for Macmillan is really important to us.
“We are competing in a tournament in Dubai later this year, but we have to pay for the travel ourselves.
“With this donation from the MARS Milk Fund we can help ease the pressure on the ladies and hopefully win some more money for our charity.”
